[personal profile] amaranthinewriter posting in [community profile] dreamwidth_pagans
-Name you would like to go by: Ama

-Present path or tradition: Solitary Agnostic, searching for my own spirituality in forms animism and the Fae

-Interests: Animals, animation, politics, religion, writing, literature, languages, dw role-play, culture, music, travel, anything in relation to the humanities, though science is always intriguing, I just wish I understood certain concepts better.

-Age: 21

-Brief Bio: Hello, I joined this community awhile ago, but only until now I actually posted to introduce myself. I am an aspiring writer, born cat lady, and in hopes of obtaining a job where I can combine my love of writing, animals, and travel. I was baptized Catholic, even had First Communion, but I do not apply their belief systems to my own spirituality, but I respect it has a part of my family's religious history and have family that are Catholic as well. I like researching and looking at different belief systems, even considered having Religious Studies as a major, but I'm still deciding at the moment.

Anyway, it's a pleasure to meet all of you and my apologies for not posting this intro earlier.

That's OK, this forum, like so many others isn't very active anymore. More people seem to like the more superficial FB. We're a household of Recovered and mostly Recovered Catholics here. I stopped going in the 70's and Chuck in the 80's. As much as I love Theatre, I jut couldn't get past It's Past......or it's Present for that matter;>.
Cheers,
Pat

Heathenry, yes. Yahoogroups had a very active online Baltic Pagan group a few yrs back but I've lost track of the young lady who was the Moderator there so I don't know offhand how active it still is. Back in the 90's when I still lived in the Bay Area of California there were a few active Baltic pagan groups, many whose members either went to Heathen Moots oand/or gave workshoppes. At one of them I picked up a nice "101" on the subject, 'Of Gods and Holidays' by The Baltic Heritage. Edited by Jonas Trinkunas(my keyboard's not set up for Umlauts over the u;>).
From the reading and wokshoppes I attended there is much similarity between Baltic Paganism and Heathenry, certainly culturally. I'd hoped for more Info to come out of the former Soviet Union since the Baltic and Slavic countries were the last European regions to be Converted.
Hope that helps some...
Cheers,
Pat(not the best before finishing his 1st cuppa;>)
