Atheists Pu-LEEZ!
Jul. 10th, 2012 01:02 pmI Understand where most are coming from but I do get tired of the YHVH or No Way Attitude. If old “Sand and Fire” isn’t for you…Great. We Understand but don’t lump us in with the reasons you don’t Believe that there are ANY Spiritual Entities out there. Yes, the Bible is frequently Wrong Scientifically and Ethically but it’s Inaccuracies don’t negate the Experiences of EVERY non-JCI Person of Faith on the planet(or possibly beyond;>). I’m NOT an Atheist. Yes, I don’t Follow YHVH in whatever religion He’s being Followed in. I don’t deny He Exists either. I just have no Interest IN Him….just like the MAJORITY of Deities on Earth. I’m a Heathen. I Follow those of my pre-C Ancestors. I am not “Free of Belief”. I’m “Free to Believe” as my Ancestors were before the Coming of the Bloody “Prince of Peace”….

Date: 2012-07-10 07:33 pm (UTC)Even though I am a Kemetic I actually rather enjoy a good lot of atheist community, or at least the “positive atheism” part of the atheist community. I guess it is because the parts of the community I hang around are about looking into the psychological and sociological nature of believes in the brain as well as concerns with separation of church and state over all. Of course, in my case, I think it is because I was raised in a agnostic and atheist family (my sister and her husband being atheist, my mother being agnostic, grandmother every saying a word about religion ever) and so was an agnostic atheist for most of my life.
I tend to have Christians both inside and outside my family think I am atheist because I don’t believe as they do; however, I’ve never had an atheist either inside my family or outside it give me grief as such.

Date: 2012-07-11 07:31 pm (UTC)I do get that quite often. In my case, both temporal and experiential "mileage" means some folks without as much see me getting annnoyed at something they don't see as a big deal then see me as an arse.
Like me a few yrs ago on a Pagan list getting "jumped" because I mentioned a "traditional chant" wasn't as old as Madonna's Hair extensions(I din't use that term until the flaming beagan;>). I knew this because the chant had been the chorus of a song written by an ex's ex. Heck, there are a lot of Pagans that have never heard of Doreen Valiente or even Gerald Gardener(no, I didn't know them:>)...I won't even bring up Sybil leek or Dion Fortune's influence...

Date: 2012-09-23 01:18 pm (UTC)In my experience, any spiritual belief at all is ludicrous to a person of that mindset and it's best not even trifled with. You just need to be able to shrug off their opinions on your beliefs and occult knowledge and move on all the better for it. Association, even brief association, with such people can make you stronger in the long run.
